I've recently got a new car with cd changer, not used as too many cd's, however guess which is now left in CD store 1 ermmm? CD arrived at weekend of 16th May; thank you all for prompt delivery. 1st play in car on A52 & A38 from Nottingham to Burton on Trent 07.00 after dropping wife at work. As I said to my daughter, after gazumpteenth play of the day (i managed to fit in some work) , this is the album (complete package) of the epoch!!
IQ make you work hard for your enjoyment, this is not easy listening, it is music written, played and sang by consumate pros who know their target audience and deliver in spades, whilst retaining freshness and newness. All the hard work is rewarded with 7 classic prog tunes that deserve to be given a wider audience and played in larger auditoria with a full stage show, but maybe 2010 when I win the euro millions!
Once again the songs have morphed and conjoined from those we heard on the recent tour cds. Peter's vocals are prominent in the mix and it seems (listening on car stereo) all are given an equal shot in the forefront when necessary. Tip, listen with volume as high as you dare but with a fresh pair of ears and don't fall into the trap set for us by those coniving IQsters of trying to compare songs with the tour cd versions. The best compliment I can pay is this; my daughter whose spiritual fathers are Robert Plant and Fish and who was spoon fed prog and rock from birth and now hates this genre with a passion, said that the lyrics are pretentious and the lyrics and music make her want to rip her skin off!!
In summary this is yet another brilliant classic from a top band.
